Have we reached a point where we have relinquished more and more of the decisions regarding our health is being done by those whose concerns are dominated by market share, profits and making “the market” happy? We are just a vehicle to a financial end for those involved !
We have BOP’s that appear to be catatonic .. except when it comes to taking action against those that would abuse/divert drugs… every other violation of the practice act is generally overlooked… unless they are forced to deal with a particular issue…. NC BOP seems to be a good example… twice in the last year.. they have been presented documentation that CVS was violating multiple parts of the practice act in stores… they basically gave all involved a slap on the wrist and closed the book on the issue… It would appear that CVS returned to business as usual.. as did the BOP…
A second incident in NC… it was documented that nine RPH’s and two pharmacy interns were not provided the required training to give vaccinations… they address just those involved… and there is no evidence that any of the other RPH’s that were trained by the same trainer were confirmed to be properly trained.
Collectively, has our ethics been replaced by greed… anything goes… just make sure that the profits keep rolling in..

All we have to do is obey all the rules in the practice act and company’s policies and procedures.. Document…document… Document… And share with legal, HR/CCO and the BOP. There are substantial financial consequences if a company fires an employee for refusing to break the rules. The corporate ass-holes signed these PBM’S contracts.. If they can’t operate both legally and profitably with the contracts they signed… Then they need to stop renewing them?
There has to be some underlying cause for the Board of Pharmacies not to do anything. Maybe they are afraid of the political impact. We, the pharmacists, need to take control.
