“The moral test of a government is how it treats those who are at the dawn of life, the children; those who are in the twilight of life, the aged; and those who are in the shadow of life, the sick and the needy, and the handicapped.” – Hubert Humphrey

This is what I am talking about – the Board of Pharmacy is responsible for public safety and needs to pull their heads out of the sand. Their response that “we didn’t know” is ludicrous! CVS’s comment that errors are a cost of doing business needs to go public nationwide – what if it was your loved one – would that be worth the lost that errors were a part of doing business! Yes – pharmacist fired for not playing this game need to file lawsuits! However, pharmacist still employed (for today anyways – new graduate class needing jobs will soon be here) need to file whistleblower suits with the Boards of Pharmacy so they can no longer say we didn’t know – no one told us! Report all misfillings (per CVS it is rare – of course, no one reports it in fear for their job) and the staffing level at the time and the other required nonpharmacist duties required at the same time while being timed.
Report and “document” so the Boards of Pharmacy can no longer say we didn’t know. It is their responsibility that all pharmacies, regardless of the corporations, are being ran with the public’s safety first – not profits first! They say we can’t dictate working conditions – but, if it comes to the public’s safety – they are required to intervene and set up reasonable guidelines for public safety. As to whistleblower against the Board of Pharmacy – believe me, you will have a much stronger lawsuit if the corporation decides to get rid of you in the name of profits! Are you going to sell out your license and soul to them first? If so, sad, but don’t come back when you had a chance to help to ask your fellow pharmacist to be there for you when corporate gets rid of you to! Unfortunately, until the Board of Pharmacy gets their head out of the sand and more and more graduate with less and less jobs – its just a matter of time!
