The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) announces the opening of a docket to obtain comment concerning perspectives on and experiences with pain and pain management, including but not limited to the benefits and harms of opioid use, from patients with acute or chronic pain, patients’ family members and/or caregivers, and health care providers who care for patients with pain or conditions that can complicate pain management (e.g., opioid use disorder or overdose)—hereafter called “stakeholders.” CDC will use these comments to inform its understanding of stakeholders’ values and preferences related to pain and pain management options.

First off, Steve, I want to thank you for being here. For taking the time to bring us news, and sometimes hope, on the CPP front. I struggle daily with what has become of CPP’s and their lives. We all know what an absolute sham this has been. For me, this isn’t about continuing access to pain medication, although it’s of vital importance. It’s also about how our rights have been absolutely crushed. We’ve been judged and thrown out like garbage. No one who makes the decisions about pain medications has listened to any of us. We’ve all been judged and sentenced. Doctors have been arrested on the most frivolous, trumped- up charges, their lives shattered by people who obviously only have one agenda. Trump, our politicians, the CDC and the DEA have harmed us and our physicians so egregiously, most of us will struggle with this trauma for the rest of our lives. I will leave my comment on the CDC site, but I don’t trust them to do right by any of us.
Is HHS and CDC simply going through the motion to appease those with decaying life from insufficient pain management and other ailments ,or will testimony through comment really matter? I do hope that comments will matter. I am watching and observing my wife of 41 years waste away because of little effective pain management now. She has always been health conscious, never smoked, used alcohol, had a great diet, won a bodybuilding event after our two children were born and now can hardly get out of bed at 59 years old. Comment is great but, who is really listening? Hate to be negative. I know there are pain warriors giving it hell so to speak however, I just get myself in trouble commenting. What else is there to lose though? I agree with previous posts by Steve, VOTE THEM OUT if they do not listen.
