Conversation with a friend/blog reader… suggested that I ask those Rph’s out there in “Rx Land”.. what/how the corporate employers are increasing the stressors on you individually and the staff of the Rx dept collectively.. which is increasing the risk of medication errors. Are they “stressing” a individual RPH’s trying to establish “reasons” to discharge the RPh ?

Unfortunately, I am not curious at all. I have seen it up close and personal. There is one tech in our location that has been instrumental in the dismissal of two pharmacists. She is a horrible technician, slow, lazy, and careless. But she leverages her power by funneling information to the front end manager and DM. She actually brags about having the DM’s private cell number. If you attempt to correct her she will call Human Resources. The pharmacists that replaced the others actually thought they could get a rein on this one. No. She has been dragging the pharmacy down for years. I see the same course of events happening with our new pharmacists and warn them to document everything. I hope that they do, because the signs are all there that they are being set up. While it is easy to say that it is their responsibility to manage this problem, what do you do with this kind of union-protected drag on an entire operation? I have left and hope to never work for any of the big three again. The stress was unbearable.
As I reach the end of the first week of my two week suspension for a still yet to be identified “error”, several thoughts come to mind: For the past several months I have been targeted by XXXXXX in almost all phases of my work environment at XXXXX. Her frequent calling of my duty station Managers and Auxiliary Pharmacy Personnel to check up on me, the scheduling difficulties, and the recent unfounded allegation of a misfill involving Labetalol are but a few instances of a pattern of misconduct, harassment and intimidation that has left me devastated and has harmed my well-being.
As of this date, I still have not received adequate notice of my alleged workplace error, which is in clear violation of the XXXXX Employee Agreement. Workplace harassment and intimidation is illegal. I have reported this behavior on multiple occasions to no avail. The attempts to isolate me, to monitor me above all others similarly situated, to impede advancement, to withhold information, to humiliate me in the presence of coworkers, to ignore my basic right to be treated in a dignified and professional manner have in combination left my shaken to the core. Malicious actions do have consequences.
All I ever desired was to be the best possible Pharmacist for an Organization, that until recently I was proud to be associated with and to which I had rested my hopes and dreams upon. So, as of this date, I feel broken, and all because I became too old and expendable.
My ex employer did this and more!
1. failed to pay me according to punches on time-clock (owed me 20 grand upon termination back pay… no termination pay )
2. refused to pay me or look into the pay problems
3. floated me to three different states- most assignments over 50 miles heavy traffic
4. made my schedule vary from week to week
5 . sent me to error prone stores with bad management and poor quality/ quantity of auxiliary help
6. sent me only to stores in Hispanic neighborhoods ( I don’t speak Spanish)
7. excluded me from promotions
8. never gave credit for good service even when the service was noted in a local newspaper
8. scrutinized my work
9. constant write ups for crazy reasons (removed from file upon termination)
10. made up malicious allegations about my life style
last note before termination.
