If you can imagine this.. this pt is on Medicaid and “locked in” to a specific pharmacy – can only get her Rxs filled at this one particular pharmacy location and the Pharmacist on duty refused to fill her prescription.. Forcing the pt to go to a pharmacy where she had to pay cash for her medically necessary medications. And the pt had been trying for TWO WEEKS to get herself locked in a different pharmacy and “the Medicaid system” was apparently not responding to her request.

Are those of you who are having your prescriptions denied following thru and filing complaints with the department of justice against the Americans with Disabilities Act??? Nothing will get done until we as disabled patients fight back in court with the act that was written for us.
I too am suffering in this prescription nightmare. This system and its current refusal to provide medications to those of us who legitimately need them has done more to harm patients than stop ANY illegal activity. The pharmacists say the DEA ties their hands, the DEA says that’s not true, and the distributors pull all the purse strings to control it all. Where does it end?? We have to turn to the only ones who can acctually stop it –our politicians. We have to encourage all our friends, family and coworkers to help us by writing, emailing or calling our local politicians (congress/senators) and even the governor. If their jobs are fhreatened, they will help. There really is strength in numbers. If we don’t do something or make some effort on our own behalf, how can we expect anyone else to help us. We have to get involved!
How many politicians do you think are interested in working against the drug war? There may be a couple who believe that pain patients deserve access to their drug treatments of choice, but even they will not stand up against those in the medical industry, Express Scripts, CDC, DEA, FDA, and the media who say there is an opioid and drug abuse epidemic.
You’re talking about maybe hundreds of pain patients who are willing and able to fight, against the whole freaking world. No one has our back. No one cares. I suggest you get used to those facts.
Patients who are locked in to one pharmacy that refuses to fill prescriptions will end up getting them cheaper on the street. Thanks DEA, you’re doing a great job continuing the drug war! It’s almost like the war against pain patients is saving your jobs.
I too have been caught up in this drug situation that is doing more to hurt patients than stopping any criminal activity. The pharmacists blame the DEA, the DEA says its not them, the distributors pull the purse strings on the meds. It has to end and the only ones that can fix it are political leaders. We have to put pressure on our politicians because they are our only chance at fixing this. We need to spread the word to our friends, family and coworkers and have them write or call or email our senators, congressmen/women and even our governor. Working in numbers can make a difference. Otherwise we patients will remain locked in a system that will never change!
Where I’m at I’m “Locked In” anyway. The pharmacist isn’t open on holiday’s, weekends,or closes early or opens late. Often he hasn’t the item in stock. I lose out on 15 doses because he can’t get them, doesn’t have them, or is closed for a 4 day weekend like today. So I miss out all weekend on my medication I’ve been taking for 12 years faithfully. He doesn’t like me to go elsewhere ,so I lose out until he can either get them or gets around to filling it. I don’t like it-but what else can I do?
