“The moral test of a government is how it treats those who are at the dawn of life, the children; those who are in the twilight of life, the aged; and those who are in the shadow of life, the sick and the needy, and the handicapped.” – Hubert Humphrey

Steve, you are the only true advocate. I am grateful. My health, sense of hope, and trust in receiving authentic and medically necessary medications has become both toxic and dismal. I filed a grievance report with medicare part D silver script, as well as a human rights complaint. The prior approval for the brand name Shire Adderall xr had me totally unable to function for days, and the severe effects from medications labeled “oxycodone” are damaging me. A nurse at an ER said I was caught between a rock and a hard space. How is it legal to misrepresent medication ? This is not about health, it’s about intentionally causing harm. How can so many “professionals” participate in crimes against humanity ? Just because they were given immunity from lawsuits resulting in death or injury, [which in itself is illegal and a crime]. I don’t know what else to do. According to Empire Justice, my basic human rights as an American citizen are a philosofical question. I feel that NYS is in violation of my right to work, volunteer, have purpose in my life as the two medically necessary medications needed for my independence are being covertly withheld from me.
Happy belated Thanksgiving Steve. I hope you and your wife had a wonderful turkey day. Like PK2 mentioned, I am thankful for advocates like yourself who point the disabled in the right direction. I am personally involved in an imbroglio over filling my schedule II rx w/ a major medical center in FL. I am much more prepared by the invaluable information and direction provided on your website.
I had a ‘discussion’ on the laws, regulations, and finer points of discrimination w/ the medical center’s head of pharmacy the day before Thanksgiving. She seemed genuinely taken aback at my knowledge as I called out each and every excuse (with facts I have learned here, and through other research) she doled out for limiting my access to medication. When disabled citizens can go toe to toe, w/ confidence in their cause, on equal ground w/ ‘higher ups’ in a major medical center it gives one a sense that eventually our advocacy will bear fruit.
It is just going to take some time and more participation from disabled citizens and their advocates to remedy this predicament of blatant discrimination. KNOWLEDGE is POWER. You sir are an invaluable resource, excellent advocate, and a beacon of light for the disabled citizens of this country.. Keep up the good work my friend.

On Thanksgiving, we should give thanks to those who keep us updated and in-the-know: Thanks, Pharmacist Steve 🙂
