How dumb are these crooks ?

CVS stores among favorite targets for Orlando robbers

From the article:

ORLANDO, Fla. —

Orange County Sheriff Jerry Demings said Wednesday that deputies arrested five men connected to 40 violent crimes dating back to December 2013.

What stands out is that more than a dozen of those robberies targeted CVS stores specifically, so Channel 9’s Kenneth Craig went out with a law enforcement and security expert on Thursday in effort to figure out why those stores may have been targeted.

“They’re hitting places where they have the highest probability of getting more money, and that would be a CVS,” said law enforcement expert Mark Lang.

Either these crooks’ elevator doesn’t leave the ground floor… or CVS/law enforcement  would have us to believe that these crooks are robbing the FRONT OF THE STORE and not going back to the pharmacy were all the “real gold” is kept… What per-cent of the average store’s front end  is charge/debit card.. HIGH ??? thus NOT MUCH MONEY IN THE REGISTER.

No matter what the reason for “liking” CVS to rob… their expert .. didn’t seem to pay any attention to the STAFFING LEVEL…  That is the reason why a lot of convenient stores over night shifts get robbed.. because typically there is just one person in the store…

Color me skeptical

  1. I agree with you. I used to work for CVS. There were several places for someone to jump the counter. I’m sure they case the place when its really busy so they’re not noticed, so they know where every thing is and with the pharmacy near the back of the store, the back door was also an emergency exit, so it wasnt locked. you did need a key to shut the alarm off to open it to receive the order, but otherwise they could just run out the back. Alot of them are free standing stores. Overnights it was a pharmacist and a cashier. No they’re not dumb, they’re now pros.

  2. Steve, do you think that maybe someone was smart enough to figure that criminals go to front and patients go to pharmacy section? Doubt it too. And they blame chronic pain patients for the drugs on the street? Give me a break. Amazingly 30 years ago my smart father did not report the robbery of his station. His logic was better a $200 loss than to have it published in all papers for people to notice although he did improve security.

    • Do you think that law enforcement and CVS are in collusion to not divulge that these crooks are really hitting the Rx dept and how easy it is to get into and rob the Rx dept and get away with a “ton of controlled drugs”.. which could be worth TENS OF THOUSANDS of dollars on the street.
