I am going out on a limb and make a statement about the DEA and what they are going to do after the public comments on their proposed cuts in the pharma production quotas has closed.
I have been a student and observers of what the Federal bureaucrats have done over the last 40 yrs. The last 10 yrs that we had our independent pharmacy, we had expanded and developed a very sizeable Home Medical Equipment (HME) business. We belonged to two national associations. One whose membership was independent pharmacy owners and the other was people in the HME business. Each year, each of these associations had a lobbying conventions. Hundreds of people in business would go to Washington DC. To meet with and lobbying our members of Congress.
After going to Washington DC for several years in a row with all those other people that had businesses in those two industries and talking to our members of Congress and nothing changed. I kind of gave up talking to legislators. One year, we had an appt with one of our Indiana Senators. When we got to his office, we were introduced to his LA (Legislative Assistance). Our Senator was too busy or important to meet with one of his constituents. This LA, we were told, was the Senator’s point person for industry we wanted to talk about. It didn’t take but a few minutes talking to her to figure out it would take TWO TEAMS OF Clydesdale HORSES to drag her ass to what she should have known.
Then there was the issue where I mailed a letter to one of our Senator’s Indiana office in Indianapolis. I got back a letter from the Senator’s office stating that he was also AGAINST whatever the issue was. He agreed with my position. A day or so later, I got a SECOND LETTER from this Senator’s office, This letter stated that Senator agreed with me, in being in favor of the same issue.
I quickly became skeptical about how our political system functions. What the politicians lead to believe how things works, has little to do with reality.
Today, one of the chronic painers told me that abt 600 comments on that site, did not show up. I am not aware of anything in the law that “they” have to accept all comments, nor read any of the comments, nor take into consideration any/all comments when they make their final decision. The whole process seems to be a lot of SMOKE AND MIRRORS.
The DEA as been perpetuating their agenda for 53 yrs. They say no one is above the law, but it does seem that those who enforce our laws can be selective in how they operated within our system. My crystal ball strongly suggests that there are many within our judicial system and healthcare system are working toward restricting the availability of all controlled meds. Will “bodies” start to pile up from premature deaths and/or suicide from drastic reduction the availability of controlled meds. Could history look back on this period and see all these deaths as a sort of covert genocide?

We don’t have to accept this as our fate. I, for one, will go down fighting and putting up stink! If we can show others what is actually happening to us I think we’d have a much better chance of changing things. Having a pessimistic attitude will only take us down sooner. We’re all tired of fighting for i that used to be a given. POC have had to deal with this attitude far longer than. I’ve started to question what “their” definition of addiction is. Where is that written? Is there one accepted definition for all? They are supposedly fearful of everyone becoming addicted, right? But I have no idea how they define it. Words matter. Definitions matter. Especially in science. How does anyone become addicted ? What does that look like? Addicts are portrayed as drug seekers willing to do anything to get their next fix. Right? How do any of us fit that protrayal?
Addicts will commit crimes for money to obtain more of their preferred substances. We’re just trying to afford our meds. Dependence is a different animal. Lots of people are dependent on different medications, food, water, etc. Dependence doesn’t equal addiction. I know that I have been using opioids for most of my life. I taken them when needed. I have used them from age 11 due to autoimmune conditions that cause a great deal of pain. I’ve only gone on to develop more autoimmune conditions. I had surgery in hopes of it taking away all of the pain and discomfort. I just developed another autoimmune condition that was even more painful. That one broke me. It was overwhelming. Without opiates I would have taken my life. There was no time that I showed signs of being addicted. I’m almost 70 yrs old and I’ve never experienced anything like what I consider to be addicted. No one can prove anything different. Are we being labeled as addicts? How? By what standards? Some of us have taken opioids for years. I refuse to be labeled as anything besides human ‼️ I live with chronic pain. It is a part of my life. Are we allowing them to label us? What the hell are they talking about??? Productivity doesn’t equal worth. We all have something to offer!
We are not worthless. We use opioids to have the ability to have a better quality of life. When that’s taken away they have taken away our ability to function. That takes away from anything we have to offer. It’s all so counter-productive! I think we should demand a REAL definition of what addiction really is! Science based and not from any one group of people. If you think you know what that definition is please share it with all of us. Show us where everyone is onboard with that definition. There needs to be a definitive definition of the word addiction before they can accuse us of having it or being in danger of it. Right now it’s anyone’s guess. We need to start tearing down their screwy narrative! Take it a part piece by piece. They’re not being honest or transparent. They have to prove that their agenda should be accepted by all! We have to put it back on them to prove their own nonsense. Yes. Our doctor’s are under siege by the DEA and their own rules of what their definition is of over-prescbring and anything else the doctors can be held accountable for. It’s arbitrary at best. They need to be protected from losing their livihood before they can help to protect us. They are sick and tired of being told how to practice medicine. They are in debit from school loans and learning to become health providers. We shouldn’t be at war with them. We need to help each other. People blaming addicts is ridiculous. What is Your definition of addiction ⁉️ Think about it. Ask your friends. Is there a scientifically backed definition of Addiction ⁉️ I don’t believe there is one. How can they even use that to keep us from our medications that ease our pain? It doesn’t have a real basis in science. It’s BS. It’s time we forced this huge issue. The mme is made up. Why are we demanding more clarification? Time to hold their feet to the fire That’s what I am planning to do. Enough is enough!
I honestly think nothing short of violent protests will do anything to even start a process of the public becoming aware of what’s going on. No one gives a crap. Everyone’s head is buried in their iPhone. Also, everyone is just living their able bodied lives as I would be doing myself if a doctor hadn’t injured my spine.

Excellent we writing. I couldn’t agree with you more. When are they going to start the public hangings of disabled and patients with chronic pain? Is that when the public might actually see what’s happening or will they be too busy on their Iphone playing games?
They won’t start public hanging.. takes away the “covert part” of the genocide. We may see a rush by the states or feds to pass “death with dignity laws”. Taking away pts’ pain meds. They lose their jobs, they become house/bed/chair confined. Die from complications of under/untreated pain. If anyone commits suicide in a non-violent way. The coroner will label the death as an “OD”.
