How paranoid, pathetic or lazy ?

I put this survey up two weeks ago.. and since then.. it has been the second most view posted on my blog.. since that date..  AND and whopping 28% of the people who viewed the page bothered to take the survey…  I suspect that there are a few non-pharmacists that read my blog – don’t know why .. but suspect that there are  …  TWO SIMPLE  friggin questions… not asking  anyone to divulge any corporate or personal secrets.

While this is not a scientific survey and a rather small sample… I think that it is telling observation…

3/4 of the current Pharmacist would not chose pharmacy as a career.. if they had the chance to do it all  over again

Q1

  1. i am a non-pharmacist. i am actually a technician, so your blogs are somewhat relevant to me. i opted not to answer since it was for Pharmacists but i would recommend being a tech to family. i do all the time, and i would do it all over again.

    • Thanks for reading my blog… here is a comment today from a Linkedin.com group today on a similar issue

There are almost 500 members of this group and yet less than half-dozen bother to take the time to make a comment. Jacob, you are looking for people stick their neck out. Lets hear from the silent observers,

here is the link to this group http://www.linkedin.com/groups/Pharmacy-Connections-4629835?trk=myg_ugrp_ovr

Right now.. techs in pharmacy are in very “sweet spot” of working in pharmacies.. but so were Pharmacists until about 5-10 years ago.

depending on which state you work in .. and whether you are just registered or are certified.

Once all the states get on board about techs becoming mandatory certified and the educational system gears up to produce a every increasing volume of “certified techs”… the issue will change for techs as well…

Certification… will lead to more responsibilities and personal financial liabilities.

Technicians are a vital part of the function of the pharmacy.. we could not function without good ones..

IMO.. the majority of RPH’s are under the mistaken opinion.. that if they keep their head down and their mouth shut and do what they are told.. even if what they are told may be illegal or in a very “grey area”…they will be safe… The trend seems to be that if a RPH has > 10 years of service with a company and/or > 50 y/o.. they are on thin ice with a target on their back…

      • Where i live, it is only required if you want to be an registered CPhT, not if you want to be a PhT trainee, however there is an influx of technicians more so now than there were when i became a tech 8 years ago. The schools in the area are doing the same that they do for pharmacists; they put out false claims that there are a shortage of techs and that the job pays extremely well. while it is better than a McJob, it’s nothing you can fully support a family of 4 on, without having to subsidize it with either a second job or have another family member work as well.
