This is a CBS evening news report from Sept 2010. The video starts out… THIS IS LEGAL… and then goes on to rip Walgreens about providing Ranitidine caps over tabs because the CAPS apparently were more profitable. We all know that prescribers seldom specify whether they want tabs/caps of a particular medication. If a individual or corporation took a legal tax deduction… would you expect the government to come back at them… wanting the money back?… Of course not… it is legal !
Not until you reach the end of the three minute piece that you understand that CVS and Omnicare also paid LARGER FINES for doing the same thing… Does CBS have some sort of media bias toward WALGREEN’s ?
Have we reached a new low point… when individuals/corporations take advantage of legal loopholes and when the government who allowed those legal loopholes to exist.. impose fines for legally using these loopholes? It is one thing to close loopholes… but to do it retroactively… what is next… changes other rules and demanding recoup of monies paid?
What would bureaucrats do… if a retailer went back and tried to retroactively charge customers that bought a product … because it had been mis-priced on the shelf or on-line?
