CVS stops some pseudoephedrine sales in W.Va.
From the article:
CVS Pharmacy is no longer selling some cold medications that contain pseudoephedrine at its stores in West Virginia.
The sales ban applies to medications that have pseudoephedrine as their only active ingredient. Pseudoephedrine also is used to illegally manufacture methamphetamine.
CVS, which has 50 stores in West Virginia, also has also stopped selling the medications at 40 stores in neighboring states that are within 15 miles of the West Virginia border, CVS spokesman Mike DeAngelis told the Charleston Gazette (http://bit.ly/1n7onIo ).
The ban does not include Zephrex-D, a tamper-resistant cold medication that contains pseudoephedrine as its only ingredient. CVS also continues to sell cold medications that combine pseudoephedrine and other ingredients, including antihistamines and pain relievers.

Meth Makers Can Use Zephrex-D, Sinus Med Marketed as Meth-Resistant, DEA Warns
From the article:
Missouri has held onto its infamous title as Meth Capital of the United States for years now, in part, some say, because it’s just too easy for cooks to access over-the-counter medicines for meth making. That’s why Maryland Heights-based Westport Pharmaceuticals got a lot of attention last year for its nasal decongestant called Zephrex-D.
The sinus med, the company says in its marketing materials, is a “powerful decongestant relief” — that also is “formulated to block all commonly known methods of meth making.” A win-win!
There’s just one problem: The Drug Enforcement Administration, based on new research its conducted, says Zephrex-D can successfully be used in meth labs.
They say every time that you try to make something idiot proof .. they build better idiots ! I am not sure if this applies to the meth makers or the bureaucrats that are trying to stop the existence of meth labs. Maybe, both sides of the issue are IDIOTS !

Interesting since WV is on the NPLEx tracking while Mississippi is not yet. But neither is Ohio nor PA. Are there any accurate, non biased stats somewhere that NPLEx is actually working?? Seems like where I live, we’re still having meth issues. We had a meth lab bust practically behind my house and a couple of days ago a meth lab exploded on the other side of town. I also understand alot more meth is being smuggled in from the cartels in Mexico. The more they prohibit, the more the ‘bad guys’ will end run around it and once again the legit patient is denied.
And I thought I lived in the Meth capital of the world: Mississippi? The number of people here abusing drugs is ridiculous and Meth is one of the drugs abused. It is easy to spot these folks…they are ‘all over the place’. Then, there are those with no teeth. We had a pharmacy technician…she quit last year…that is now a Meth head.
I’m sure somewhere they have figured out how to outwit the new formulated OxyContins. It’s just the idiots in the DEA and govt don’t want to publically admit it.
