Is Express Script’s “middleman charges” making corporate America financially sick ?

Meridian was billed $92.53 for a prescription for generic amoxicillin filled at an outside pharmacy. Meanwhile, Express Scripts paid $26.91 to Meridian’s own pharmacy to fill the same prescription. That meant a spread of $65.62 on one bottle of a generic antibiotic.

Maybe this explains how Express Scripts can generate nearly 500 MILLION ( one-half BILLION) annually in net profits !!

And we wonder why the average Rx price has increased TEN FOLD since PBM’s have arrived on the scene some 40 years ago.
