This showed up in my email… I’m going to put on my MBA beanie – you know the one with the propeller on top of it ! Need to figure out how to cut expenses for 2013 somehow. This is all speculation… no basis in fact… any relation to actual facts or reality is purely a coincidence.
There has been rumors that at least one female RPH has been found in pharmacy bays… on the floor, in the fetal position and uncontrollably sobbing .. Staff stress much be getting at a all time high
Let’s see.. I work for a big company whose health insurance plan is self-insured (ERISA) and it would appear that the on going reduction in staffing hours may be having a detrimental effect on some of the “weaker staff”.
The company could be at risk of experiencing higher cost in workman’s comp or health insurance cost… having to deal with all of these “weak staff”. The profits gained by cutting staff could be offset or exceeded by higher medical costs.
With the unemployment rate at a all time high and the growing surplus of Pharmacists, could the Social Darwinism theory be applied to the existing staff.
But how do you isolate those “weaker staff members”… you can’t have the “stronger staff members” kill them off as would happen in the wild…
You can’t do something that would look like what you are really doing…
Let’s have them voluntarily test themselves… for stress… give them a financial reward ( a carrot) to do it.. Do it under the premise that we are concerned about their health..
Nearly half of the states are now “employment at will”.. we don’t need a reason to get rid of them… but we can identify those that are highly stressed.. those that are ready to have a mental breakdown or “go postal”… get rid of that potential health expense before it fully manifests itself.
We will make it available only to those on our medical/health insurance.. that is where our real financial liability is… the rest of them.. we will just wait until they have their breakdown.. and get rid of them…
And they made fun of me because I got my MBA thru that mail order university. Guess I have showed them 🙂
