I don’t know which I have a higher distaste for… political ads or ads for Medicare open enrollment period. One thing that seems – to me – rather irritating.. is all the ads for Medicare Part D and Advantage programs all they talk about is how “little” the patient will have to pay out of pocket.
Some of the part D programs have restricted – or perceived restricted – to a particular drug store chain.
I tried to check out some of the Advantage programs.. many of the programs necessitated talking to an insurance salesman.. only one that I found would let you look up what medical professionals and medical facility were in their network. I guess the rest of the programs.. you are expect to take – or accept – whatever medical care that you are offered… provided by whatever healthcare professionals that are willing to accept the allowables for services that are offered.
Has our collective mindset got to a point that our health and our healthcare have been reduced to selling it on price?
Can you imagine the level/quality of service provided by a pharmacy that has accepted a very low fee and has people “locked-in” to have the prescriptions filled?
The same for the other healthcare providers…
As for me… I am reluctant to leave the selection of the healthcare professional that helps me take care of my health.. to sort of a healthcare lottery based on price !
Of course, starting in 2014… who knows what our healthcare system is going to evolve into…
