I have spent the last 36-48 hours moving everything from a older computer to a new one.. I have got a pile of emails to go thru.. I have got most all the data moved and software reinstalled…
We have a nearly 10 y/o grandson that was using his Mother’s 6 yr old computer that is on its last legs.. I had tried to upgrade one of my older laptops to Windows 10 and it crashed and have heard of others having the same problem..
So I got a new Windows 10 laptop and giving our grandson my two year old Windows 7 Pro.. Hopefully that will cover his needs until he gets to high school.
This new one is a 2-in-1 laptop.. you can flip the screen over and it becomes a very heavy tablet 🙁
But is has a 128 Gbyte solid state drive (C:) and a terabyte standard hard drive (D:) All the programs go on C: and the data goes on D: It is lighting fast in booting and loading programs.. It is a I-7 chip – like my old one.. but has 16 gbyte of RAM – old one had 8 gbyte… it appears that between the solid state drive and the more RAM… is making the difference in speed … and because of the solid state drive .. it is suppose to work for upward of 9 hrs on a charge.. which is pretty impressive for a 17.3 screen
Now I have to learn the quirks of Windows 10 – and there seems to be a lot of them 🙁
