Bedford Police Department. The Bedford Police Department works day in and day out to keep our Bedford community safe. To address the drug epidemic that neighborhoods across Indiana continue to face, officers are working with our local schools to teach all students to have drug-free futures. I’m honored to fight for our law enforcement officers and first responders in Congress to keep them safe.

Various entities have been trying to “teach all students to have a drug-free future” for over FOUR DECADES. That is TWO GENERATIONS that we have tried to “educate on not smart to abuse drugs”. So since we have as many or more people abusing controlled substance now as back them… Is this a FAILURE of all those various entities who have tried to reach kids ?
OR Is this a issue that our country has a substantial and/or growing number of people who are dealing with mental health issues for various reasons ?

“working with our local schools to teach” …If it doesn’t come from the parents, or by some kind of amazing rarity the television, they aren’t going to listen to the Police, I mean have you heard all the ‘beeps’ blotting out profanity on COPS or at youtube? Those are the Police saying that filth. Only the ‘blind leading the blind’ taking advice on what drugs are from the police. There is an automatic, built in conflict of interest to start with. What are they gonna say? ‘Some people need opiates’ NOW? They would lose there career as the period fell to that sentence.
I think it’s more that prohibition simply doesn’t work. It didn’t work with alcohol and will never work with drugs, either. Humans, indeed many other animals as well, enjoy changing their mental state with drugs and alcohol. Elephants and other large mammals as well as birds will eat fermented fruit and become quite drunk. Even dolphins get in on the action, passing puffer fish around the pod to get high off its neurotoxin.
