I had an interesting conversation today. Our PCP called in Barb’s opioid Rx in Monday or Tuesday. The independent pharmacy that we patronize called us and said that their drug wholesaler – one of the BIG THREE MAJORS – did not have her particular med in stock & it was in back order.
I know who the drug wholesaler that they use. So I called their corporate HQ. I got to someone in their customer service area. I told the gentleman that I was trying to confirm that they had no inventory of a particular C-2. He first told me that I was not a customer of the wholesaler, and he could not tell me if they had inventory.
I asked if he could transfer the call to someone who is his supervisor and could share that information? Surprisingly, this young man suddenly had the authority to provide me if they had any inventory on hand.
He stated that they had no inventory on hand. I asked him how many pharmas that makes this particular product, did they normally have it in inventory ? I was told that they normally had the product from NINE DIFFERENT PHARMAS. I asked if they had an inventory on the next higher strength. I knew that even though this was a extended release – long acting – dose that they could be split in half without interfering with the long-acting property. I then called our pharmacy and they checked the wholesaler’s inventory for the higher strength – but they only had CAPSULES – which you can’t split.
This guy had no information on when any of the strength that Barb needs would become available.
I have no way to check, but the THREE MAJOR DRUG WHOLESALERS control some 80% of the entire Rx marketplace. So I would not be surprised if all three of these wholesalers are also without inventory.
Barb has a implanted pump, so she can “survive” without one of the two oral opioids that she takes. I feel sorry if all those chronic pain pts that can’t refill their Rxs more than two days early and will soon be thrown into cold turkey withdrawal.

I helped my patients as best as I could until they took me away and after fighting in a phony court I got 10 years in Fed Prison. Doctors are in a very bad spot. Many are dispassionate to begin with but there are those that are understanding and even compassionate. But terrified of the government ! For good reason !
Fill early,,not at our pharmcy,,not anymore ,since the dea bullsh-it,,no-one can fill any days early,,Now they push it out to 31 days,,or 29 days…My pain doc didn’t give a sh-it when he changed it to a 29 day script by pushing it out to 33 days,,which threw me into severe pancreatits,,,nice guy huh,,Its amazing what u learn about torture when your forced to go thru withdrawal’s AND thee original medical condition that caused u to be a chronic physical pain patient in the 1st place..A whole new perspective arises,,on what TORTURE really is,,when done by the opinion put into laws by those who will never see the torture they bestowed upon anothre humnbeing for their precious $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$,, for false addiction claims/data,,,Maybe if more so called advocates actually had to endure real torture they wouldn’t be sooo quick to condemn the sick and dieing,,or sabotage laws drafted
to stop this sh-it,,maryw
3 letter entities are meddling again? I can only imagine what fresh horrors await. It’s unfathomably unethical to meddle around with the health of an entire group of patients like that. Just like it was unfathomably unethical to start forcing those same patients off left and right without already available suitable substitutes. But then didn’t care then and they’re not likely to start now. I’m so sorry that Barb and countless others will have to go without. This should not be happening. It should have never been allowed. Yet, here we are. The dream was ruined for me when I realized I would never be able to go to work after they cut me down so low that I could barely get out of bed or my chair. I was so close and now that’s apparently gone forever. I’ve got no life, let alone liberty or justice. Same as most of the rest.
