Just yesterday, it was all over the news media about how CVS is wanting to have/encourage a “healthier workforce”… and then today this ad comes my way
https://www.cvs.com/extracare/landing.jsp
In-store deals with card!
Earn $5 ExtraBucks Rewards when you spend $15 on candy items such as these:
Not only are these “empty calories” ON SALE…. but the customer gets “rewarded” with Extra Care Bucks.
Maybe the customer can take these “Extra Care Bucks” to help pay for their Metformin Rxs, blood glucose test strips, or some other thing that will assist them in taking off the extra pounds that all these empty calories help put on.
I looked up “care” in the www.freedictionary.com http://www.thefreedictionary.com/care
And the potential uses for this FOUR LETTER WORD … is very extensive… never really gave it much thought before reading this.. and to think that the customer is not just getting “care” but is being lavished with “EXTRA CARE”… it is amazing how magnanimous one corporation can be…
Just wonder what is being done with all this data that these corporations are amassing on our buying habits??
I am just saying …

cvs does not allow extrabucks to be used on rx items. No matter; even if the soda isn’t on sale, I can’t tell you how many people I had come to the register with a giant pack of soda and pay something like $1.00 for their diabetes and cholesterol meds. Nothing’s going to change unless we make people pay full price for everything, including their meds, and unfortunately that won’t work out well for the responsible people who are making good choices but are just cursed with poor health and bad fortune.
