A pharmacist at Wal-Mart Supercenter, Walton Boulevard, Warsaw, could be facing criminal charges for theft of medication.

According to Warsaw Police Lt. Kip Shuter, officers were called to the store at 5:29 p.m. Monday, after the pharmacist was fired and escorted off the property. According to store loss prevention officials the theft occurred Oct. 29.

Police were told a technician in the pharmacy had discovered medications were getting mixed. A video showed the pharmacist placing two separate medications in the same medicine container. The pharmacist allegedly stole 40 tablets of ciprofloxacin, an antibiotic, valued at $8.

Information on the matter has been sent to the Kosciusko County Prosecutor’s office for further review.

This story is so THIN on details…  How did medications were getting mixed… to theft of Ciprofloxacin ? Will the truth every surface on this issue…?

  1. There’s got to be more to this story. In my personal experience surveillance videos are not of clear enough quality to be able to see exactly which type of tablet is being dispensed or to read the label on a vial particularly in a busy retail pharmacy that will fill hundreds of prescriptions in a typical day.

  2. Another BS case. These days it’s normal for corporate clowns to use technicians against pharmacists. I had a case similar to this one at my store.
I did not have a good relationship with my store manager(a 23 year old boy with no other degree, besides his HS diploma, who always though he was in charge of my pharmacy). One of the techs he hired was extremely lazy girl, but she happened to be his friend and a classmate.
To make a long story short, one day they decided to get me fired and wrote a letter to the corporate, accusing me of cursing out some customers. They tried to intimidate my other techs to sign their letter(he did not realize that me and my regular techs were like a family).
But I did see when techs fired pharmacists they did not like.

  3. What if the medication was 2 different generic manufacturers of Ciprofloxicin?? And the technician got it wrong?? We sometimes didn’t have enough of one and finished the order with another, separating them with cotton and telling the patient. No law against that. Wonder if there will be any details coming forth. Also wonder if it was a disgruntled tech, also videotape can be tampered with. And why did they wait almost 2 weeks for the arrest…this just doesn’t add up. will have to check license website soon.

    • I agree. Even undercover agents ruin cases because they can NOT prove by a lone video that someone purchased drugs. The perp must be IN POSSESSION FOR a conviction in most states. CIPRO IS EXPENSIVE but not addictive. I will give the accused. the benefif of the doubt. Perhaps he was trying to help someone without money. No excuse but mitigates act in my mind. ALLEGED ACT.
