Report: DEA investigating NFL’s prescription drug abuse
From the article:
When some former NFL players brought a lawsuit accusing the league of illegally providing painkillers to mask serious injuries, some eyebrows were raised at the Drug Enforcement Administration.
The New York Daily News wrote on Sunday that the DEA is investigating the NFL for alleged abuse of prescription medication among its players. Agents from the DEA’s New York division have reached out to former players, trying to learn how doctors and trainers get access to prescription drugs like Percodan, Vicodin and Toradol, the Daily News reported.
Imagine that … a person with a serious injury .. getting pain meds to treat the pain from the injury.. what where those team doctors thinking of ???

Well, PED’S WERE AND STILL ARE used extensively in the NFL. THEY will take a injection or pill/pills to stay in the game. They can’t expect too much redress after the damage is done. Would anyone give mu agonists to someone with a head injury? What foolishness to expect not to pay the heavy price of a injury in that gladiator sport.
The show must go on, I guess with the NFL. Give them a pill, so they don’t feel the pain so badly and play the game. Without the best players in the field, the whole team loses.
The DEA is definitely sticking their noses where most likely these players and teams wouldn’t want them, interfering in their privacy.
Isn’t it the players choice if they want to be able to play, even if it called for some pain relief? If they injure themselves worse, that should be their choice. Many patients still work their jobs just fine while taking medicine, that’s why they aren’t on disability. After all, it’s their life. Once again the DEA- govt trying to save us from our selves. BIG dollars for the DEA and why is it not paying down the National the debt?
Forgive me my computer is on the fritz and im using my phone and have trouble.posting links. I would suggest googling the lawsuit from the beginning. My issue is the NFL team docs AND trainers apparently passed these drugs out without scripts required documentations assessments and not just opioid…toradol shots aplenty..leaving some with renal damage. It sounds like they had bottles and bottles of stuff in the locker rooms. And I would not put it past any other professional.sports team to do this. Its all about the almighty dollar and not about the players safety or health. (Apparently not being honest about severity of injuries….Malpractice???) Extortion…you take these or you contract is void. Will be interesting.to.see.how this plays out. We had a pharmacy in indy unfortunately got caught up in this scheme.cause player became hooked. Owner just got his store and license off probation from the BOP. But then again the professional teams always seem to be exempt from rules
