One of the most trusted professions ???

This was posted on another blog this weekend… by a RPH…

I was at CVS and witnessed the front end people having to check the pockets of the RPh before he left the store. Is this what retail has come to? SO glad I left…

  1. I am lucky. The hospital still treats employees with respect. They retain the right to search lockers and bags but security does not do bag checks on a routine basis. We can still bring in tote bags, briefcases, and purses. In fact, most of the pharmacists come in with bags full of favorite reference books, iPads, and other tools of the trade. Of course, there are security cameras all over. I supply my own pens. The pharmacy-supplied pens leak in your pocket and don’t write well on labels 🙂

  2. This is nothing new. We have not been allowed to bring jackets or purses into the pharmacy for years. We have over 10 cameras (that we know of) in the pharmacy. There are probably more subtle ways to steal than adding stuff to the lint in our pockets.
Ps…our store does not even supply the pens.

  3. Are you kidding! What were they looking for? Did the pharmacist accidentally take home an ink pen belonging to the store? This isn’t how you create loyal employees. I wouldn’t give this employer one second of unpaid time.

    • that is absolutely horrid! Are hospital pharmacists treated this way? Or does retail pay more? The more I read the more I thank my pharmacist and techs. Brought them two large boxes of Tim Norton’s Timbits on a Sunday morning not long ago after reading some of the horror stories from pharmacists. Now I am an inpatient, again, and wandered what hospital pharmacy was like compared to retail.

  4. I’ve been told that I may not bring a jacket into the pharmacy. I must keep it in a locker in the break room. I’ve heard that at another pharmacy chain that anyone wanting to bring in a purse or bag (RPh or tech) is required to use a clear plastic quart-size bag or equivalent. Anyone can see through the bag and any personal items become public view. This is insane.
