Beware of scams and frauds on MARKETPLACE.

Just wanted to share my experience to alert and warn my neighbors. I was scammed on the Facebook marketplace, I purchased a electric bike and made payment via PayPal but when the payment was made I found out that it went to some company in China so I wrote to seller that I want to cancel the order but did not received any response so I opened case with PayPal, seller never responded me directly but responded to PayPal in 3 days with a USPS tracking number showing it was delivered to our front door, we have proof ( cameras and USPS informed delivery notification email) that it was never delivered to us , I tried to explain PayPal that how come in this Covid crises I will receive an item from China in 3 days where local deliveries takes weeks to reach the buyer but PayPal refused to investigate and refused to refund me and favored the scammer and closed my case.I have found similar complaint against PayPal on BBB by another customer who was victim of similar scam by a seller on MARKETPLACE and PayPal refused to refund money to that customer too. I really don’t understand how they get fake USPS tracking numbers. Neighbors please be cautious before spending your money and stay away from such scammers. Happy thanksgiving !

  1. This is horrible! I really don’t understand how they get away with this either but I’ve herd people have been making fraudulent Money Gram Money Orders. I found this out after trying to cash a money order at my local Kroger. My son’s father sends them to me & have cashed them many , many times at this same Kroger. Well I went to cash it & they said recently they couldn’t cash them anymore unless it’s from the original Kroger that it was bought at , and that’s a different state about 600 miles away from me. So tried at a bank and that is when I found out some fraudulent ones have been made. Don’t know 100 % what the truth is but I do know that I’ve been doing it for years & all of a sudden this happened. So these scammers are only getting smarter. Sadly. PayPal used to be trusted but not anymore. I refuse to buy anything unless it’s from a known company through PayPal. This is wrong. Someone is going to get ripped off big time & I hate to see that. Thanks for sharing Steve.

  2. When money is involved these WILL betray their TRUST. They actually call it “profit”. So sad. it is in reality a debit they MUST account for, but they consider it not.

  3. I ordered a pair of sandals back in early May of this year through FB marketplace. To this day, I haven’t received the order. I paid via PayPal also.
I have emailed the seller three times and never got a response. I try the tracking number and it tells me there’s no record of it anymore! I am going to try to get a refund through PayPal since I used their line of credit, so there’s some protection.
This is just ONE of the many reasons why I dropped off of FB. I do miss some of my groups, but I couldn’t deal with the political issues, the hateful trolls and the scammers begging for money.
