Personal liability of HR/CCO

Will Wal-Mart Have A Future Money-Laundering Problem?

From the article:

MoneyGram, an established major player in the money transfer space. That also provides in-store money services to Wal-Mart customers, recently settled allegations of anti-money laundering and wire fraud violations by paying a $100 Million settlement and agreeing to hire a corporate monitor who will report to the Department of Justice. MoneyGram’s former Chief Compliance Officer may be targeted with a $5 Million fine.

It has always been my understanding.. that HR/CCO – depending on the severity of the violation.. can be held PERSONALLY liable for allowing a violation to happen under their watch.

For you out there is the world of pharmacy… documenting and/or pointing out the company’s request to make employees do something against the law and or company’s P&P ..  to HR/CCO.. could put them into the position of having to correct the issue .. or potentially face some adverse financial consequences.

Failure to document and/or point out some violations.. may come back on you…
