Properly prescribed opiates did not cause the opiate epidemic

“The moral test of a government is how it treats those who are at the dawn of life, the children; those who are in the twilight of life, the aged; and those who are in the shadow of life, the sick and the needy, and the handicapped.” – Hubert Humphrey

The gov’t. has NEVER been interested in “saving lives.” That has been proven too many times. It’s obviously the MONEY=POWER wielded by those who shell out who tell us what’s going on in this country. Regular citizens never had a chance, and it’s only going to get worse w/ignorant trump and his cabinet of beyond-wealthy cronies. Revolution is the only way! I am so tired of being a lamb sent off to SLAUGHTER. Petitions and nonprofits? Come on. Nothing will change until the powerful get a taste of OUR power.
Excellent information, but it totally missed discussion of the SUPPLY SIDE of the substances that are killing people. Heroin and Street fentanyl (Let’s call it Streetanyl for illicitly produced and supplied fentanyl ad reserve the term Fentanyl for that obtained via prescription filled at a pharmacy.) Now it is true that Doctors control access for Fentanyl and other prescription opioids. BUT…and this is a really big issue….it is the DEA that controls, or is supposed to control, the supply of heroin and Streetanyl! There is not a doctor alive who can write a prescription for heroin and/or Streetanyl. There is not a pharmacist in the country who can fill a prescription for heroin or Streetanyl!!! There was a report in 2010 about opioid overdose deaths and the cause. They looked at prescription data and death certificates and there was not a single mention of heroin. So the heroin/Streetanyl death epidemic is something that has grown at exponential rates in the past 6 years. It is a growing monument to the collosal failure of the DEA to do its statutory job. The illicit supply channels have thrived while the DEA has been shooting target practice in the gallery of doctors and patients while the real illicit suppliers are going virtually utouched!!
The DEA needs to get back to doing their jobs.
IDIOTS,, there was no epidemic,,they should of stayed out of it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!they never prescribed tooo much,,,they were just getten it rite,,then Dr.Government budded in where they had no knowledge too bud in,,and killed alot of innocent people,,,thats called-torture and genocide by our government!!!Where was 1 actual chronic pain patient in that discussion??Let me up there!!!!!!! I DARE EM,,,,maryw
Mary, you got it right. You’re angry and tired of all the BS shoved down our throats. CHRONIC PAIN patients NEVER had a chance and never will have a chance. The gov’t. doesn’t care about those who aren’t wealthy. PAIN is unrelenting but so is money/power. Revolution anyone?
that was very interesting discussion, never seen this show before. thank you
