No it is not about earthquakes…
Word on the street… in California.. the Medical Licensing Board is “rattling sabers ” about RPH’s having to follow protocol established by their corporate employers when dealing with filling control meds.. Like requesting ICD9’s … inquiring how long therapy has been going on… what else has the prescriber tried to treat the patient… how long they expected the therapy to last.. and on .. and on..
The “saber rattling” is that the Medical License Board is going to charge RPH’s with PRACTICING MEDICINE… talk about being between a rock (corporate employer) and a hard place (Medical Board)…
I bet those in the DEA are laughing their asses off… they have got those in healthcare that are suppose all be focused on caring for patients… having a “civil war”… that the DEA has started…

BTW, asking an MD for a diagnosis for a RX for a large or extended amt of pain meds is nothing new……if I get a script for Norco, Xanax, Soma 180 each for a 20 year old who wants to pay cash, it is my obligation to verify the rx….we have been doing so for years.
