The first comment is from a regular reader.. the second comment from Anonymous – don’t you just admire people who have convictions but not strong enough to put their name to their diatribe … but I digress …

It would seem that this anonymous person is from the Dunedin, FL area.. 37 K people in Pinellas county…  Tampa area…according to www.YP.com there is a total of three WAGS in that town.. if anonymous even works for WAGS. BE WELL… because your health is everything…

Walgreens has over built having 3 stores in 5 miles in my area. Next they refused and insulted me with my narcotics. So I will not spend a penny in the store. DEA had nothing to do with the lies I was told or their refusal to fill a legal prescription last year. I am sure that they may have decent staff somewhere that will be hurt but their discrimination caused them to lose money from me.

  • So many addicts on here this comical all the wag employees who read this already know what type of people are posting here don’t be mad cause you crackheads are denied fills from your shady doctors we don’t need or want you in our pharmacy we would rather tend to people who actually are sick our service level suffers from having to deal with you ass holes all day long the logistics of this post are unrealistic while some changes are inevitable
This wouldn’t fly in America folks

Per Steve: thanks for reading… how is the weather down there in Dunedin, FL with its THREE WALGREENS… I sure that all the snow birds just flock to your store looking to have their Rxs filled from their northern prescribers.. only to discover the “Florida pharmacy crawl”.. BE WELL !

  1. I never expected to be insulted here lol. Usually it’s pharmacists that discriminate against people with chronic pain so I can guess the occupation. I resent and dislike being in pain and disabled. I also dislike the discrimination. I can only pray that I was not like some of the healthcare workers during my 20 years as a nurse.

  2. Anonymous, you better hope you are never in need of pain medication. You know nothing about chronic pain, as your ignorant post tells the story. Making generalizations is a slippery slope. You’re also a coward, for posting your view anonymously.

  3. How dare you call me an addict and a crackhead! Just because I have chronic pain and the therapy that my board certified pain management specialist prescribes just happens to include the same drug that criminals abuse does not qualify you to refer to me with such disparaging comments. Perhaps you should rethink your profession as you are obviously unfit for any field that requires compassion and decency let alone manners and grammar skills.

  4. I don’t work for Walgreens, and I’m not in Florida, so can’t say anything about this case. I will say as a pharmacist though, that my determination on who I will fill for or not has very little to do with the patient. It has to do with the doctor. For an unknown patient (with no history at my chain), the first thing I do when I look at a script is see who the doctor is. If it is a good doctor, I’ll fill it, if it is a bad doctor, I’ll deny it….. If it is an unknown doctor (out of my area, out of state, or whatever), I’ll do my due diligence, look at notes on the doctor in my chain’s profile, or even call a pharmacy in the area for a reference. If an out of state rx, and no history with my chain, and doesn’t match my state’s requirements for a C-II I’ll also call to verify it.

My personal belief it that I don’t want anyone legitimate to go without, but also don’t want to be one of “those” pharmacies that fill anything. It’s a fine line, but I don’t want anyone legit to suffer….

    • OMG.
      “Bad” doctor?
I thought the State Board and DEA determine that.
How exactly do you determine “bad doctor”?

      • Trust me, you can tell those doctors that are “bad”. A good doctor will prescribe the medication that a particular patient needs, based on their own symptoms and co-mobilities. A bad doctor will prescribe the same drug, with the same directions, to every patient they see…. A good doctor will prescribe a long acting agent for base pain, and a short acting for breakthrough, a bad doctor will prescribe nothing but short acting. A good doctor sees patients who fill even near the doctors office, or near their home, a bad doctor prescribes to anyone willing to see him, even if they live in another time zone…

I floated for over 2 years before I got a store, and I looked for extra hours so I worked all over the state, the state that is the largest east of the Mississippi… When you see the same doctors script, written the exact same way, for multiple patients, trying to fill at pharmacies over 300 miles away, it is pretty obvious its a “bad” doctor.

As I said, I don’t want a legit patient to go without, but, there are bad patients out there… If I don’t know you, and you have no history I can check out, then the only thing I have to go on is the doctor. Most pharmacists don’t judge the patient, we judge the doctor. Is this doctor someone I trust that this patient needs the drug? I don’t know you, I don’t know your diagnosis, I haven’t seen your xrays, or CAT scans, and honestly, even if I did, I couldn’t interpret them. Diagnosis is outside my field of practice, I just need to be able to trust that the person who did see them.

As I said, I never want a legit patient to go without, someone who honestly has chronic pain can suffer needlessly. When it comes to any type of medical treatment, what matters is Quality of Life. A proper dose of opiates for someone in chronic pain can greatly increase their Quality of Life, while an improper dose for an addict can worsen their Quality of Life.

  5. Can’t even make a comment to such ignorance. If Anonymous really does work for Walgreens it explains the total lack of care and concern and customer service I received there when trying to get my RXs filled there. I wonder how Anonymous determines who the real / legitimate pain patients are? I wonder what the secret is.
