List of executive actions Obama plans to take as part of anti-gun violence plan

2. Address unnecessary legal barriers, particularly relating to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, that may prevent states from making information available to the background check system.
16. Clarify that the Affordable Care Act does not prohibit doctors asking their patients about guns in their homes.

Our President is issuing 21 executive orders.. now that he is a lame duck President…
Under the “label” of reducing gun violence…  He is going after the privacy of medical records under HIPAA
Per President Obama’s first chief of staff….
You never let a serious crisis go to waste. And what I mean by that it’s an opportunity to do things you think you could not do before. – Rahm Emanuel
is it just me.. or is the government getting more and more invasive into our personal lives ?

  1. The problem of psychiatrists being required to report to the government the names of their patients that they consider possibly unstable enough to harm others, is a terrible idea. This is break the psychiatrist/patient relationship because the patient will not no longer trust the psychiatrist.
Obama is acting like a ‘dictator’ with all his ‘executive orders’. The American people, the majority, should be represented, and presidents not allowed to issue executive orders. The tangled mess of our Congress, which is suppose to represent the interests of the American people, has become clogged and dysfunctional and the executive branch is filling the void. What we need is a representative government that passes laws that represent the wishes of the majority. Not one that represents the military industrial complex, big banks, and other big corporations.

  2. Does anyone need an assault rifle? Does anyone need a magazine of 25 shots? The obvious answer is NO. But Steve’s question is -does the government have a right to look into our mental health background as part of a background check. No- who hasn’t needed zoloft or xanax to get through a divorce- I have!, but if we are flagged as a risk to ourselves or others, then yes-

I don’t think government is getting more into our personal lives. As far as the last school shooting, I blame the Mom for her own death- having those kinds of weapons around someone she knew was mentally ill? If you would want to even keep such weapons, not having them locked up?

My parents taught me at about 3rd grade to shoot. When I was in high school I shot with my Dad at our target range almost every night. My Christmas gift for my 21st birthday was a Mossburg 12 gauge shot gun. And for every christmas gift in the last 25 years, hunting apparel, and or hunting apparatus and guns.

So, my family has always had guns (my Grandpa was our county game-warden) and I’ve always loved shooting- thought I might have a chance at the Olympic team. But never have I thought I needed an assault rifle.

I have been a member of NRA, I have heard all of the arguments. There is still no reason for assault weapons. If we end them now, eventually they will decrease. Not ending them now is something I don’t want on my conscience as a christian.

I don’t care how much fun it is to shoot an assault rifle at a target. There is no reason for owning one..
Get smart people. Killing lots of people is the only goal of these weapons. Allowing the government to know if you are suicidal or willing to kill others is something we should probably know. No- not probably- in the era of terrorists threats, it’s something we definitely have a right to know.
