Has anyone noticed – except me – that drug shortages seems to be in direct proportion to the per-cent generics make up the total generic utilization of medication?
According to this article :
Part D spending is now 45% below the projections made when the program was created.
This sure beats the original 1965 estimate of what Medicare would be spending by 1990… where reality was TEN TIMES what was estimated.
According to this group Health Care for America Now
The government could save 230 – 500 Billion over the NEXT TEN YEARS.. which is 0.02% -0.05% of the current ANNUAL DEFICIT …nothing is stated on what the cost of the bureaucracy that must be put in place to handle the bid program.
It may be just me, but for-profit businesses tend to find a way to make money or they tend to go out of business. Generally speaking, businesses will take short cuts when it comes to remaining profitable or going out of business.
One has to wonder if there is a interest in the public’s health and disease management… or just using the Medicare Part D program as a reason to created another bureaucracy?
