Board of Pharmacy executive director requirements
PRXCD4
4729.03
R.C.
Removes the requirement that the Executive Director of the Board of Pharmacy be an Ohio licensed pharmacist in good
standing.
Fiscal effect: None.
This is apparently something that the Ohio Legislature is considering..  it is on page 80 of the above linked *.pdf
Of course, all board members are appointed to the BOP by the Governor..  so no politics are involved in this proposal
In thinking about this.. what is the difference between a non-pharmacist on the BOP and a non-practicing pharmacist that works for some corporation.. when it comes to protecting the health and safety of the general public ?  If this BOP.. follows the lead of the BOP in its neighboring state (Indiana)… the answer is pretty simple..  NOT MUCH !
Since the IN BOP is under investigation by the state OIG and Ethics committee..
If the allegations prove to be true.. it may suggest that corporate need/greed is put ahead of the BOP’s main charge  of protecting the public’s health and safety
