“text book” case of a person dealing with mental health issues of addictive personality ?

   How utterly heartbreaking!! This poor young woman has her whole life ahead of her. She should be in college and falling in love with a good wo/man and not fighting to stay alive.

   When she landed in the hospital I would like to know how her addictive personality slipped through the cracks. There ARE assessment tools available. A social worker, psychologist and/or a psychiatrist should have evaluated her regardless of what information was available. Evaluation should be routine for all admitted patients. I’m certain the assessment would have revealed her mental health issues and she could have gotten some much needed help. But, she probably didn’t have top notch health insurance or any at all and so they gave limited care and attention to this beautiful young woman.

   We have gotta stop blaming and start treating every human being as the valuable souls that they are.

   It’s maddening that the reporter just had to mention that her hospital stay “cemented” her addiction. They just can’t help but squeeze in some media-speak & buzzwords can they? No, her hospital stay did not cement her addiction… that happened long beforehand.

   Overall, extremely sad interview. Addiction will always plague every type of society but it’ll never reach epidemic or even crisis levels because addiction affects just a certain percent of the population (like any illness/disease), and that is why the rate of addiction has not changed since 1920.

   The Fentanyl in street drugs is from China and India. It is a strain never approved or used in U.S. prescriptions. One pill can kill a seasoned junkie. The government “forgot” to count it in their FAKE opiod crisis when basically no one was receiving prescription pain meds in my state, yet overdoses increased by 400% last year. They still don’t state it is not prescription Fentanyl. There are test strips to test for Fentanyl and the amount. Fentanyl of any sort should never be injested orally. That’s how Prince died, though he was portrayed to be a junkie. 2 pills in one week. Some junkie that is! In my opinion, the government killed him. I do not like to talk about junkies in the same posts as legitimate pain patients denied care, but the truth is that many who have never been addicted, never committed a crime get to a point where they turn to street drugs or commit suicide. These test strips should be readily available to anyone, but that promotes drug use as do commercials on TV for a prescription specifically for opiod induced constipation. This country has gone insane.
