MELINDA ROGERS: “I AM SO SORRY THAT THE GOVERNMENT LITERALLY HAS TAKEN OVER MEDICINE,” Part-4

Absolutely, Steve
Again, Steve, an excellent article that infuriated me. As a 30 year disabled RN, I can relate. I come from the generation that was taught that pain receptors were a lock and opioids were a key. The more receptors (locks) there were, the more opioids (keys) that were needed. I was also taught, and frequently told my patients, that it is harder to get out of pain than stay out of pain. I now find myself cut back to 1/3rd of my medication, and like Nurse Rogers, unable to attend to ADL’s, much less work, enjoy any of my previous hobbies, or even socialize. I have to decide whether it is a spit bath vs real shower or cooking something with protein vs non-nutritive frozen dinners for the day.
I, too, have asked what has happened to our healthcare system. The answer, in part, is government overreach. For those clamoring for socialized medicine, let this be an example of what happens when the government gets involved and takes control. “I’m from the government, and I’m here to help.” I do not know what the solution is, but it is NOT socialized medicine.
