It is nothing short of amazing… that Zohydro ER 50 is therapeutically between Oxycontin 30 and Morphine SR 60.. so were is the hyper-reaction to the bad side of this new entry into the market place of a existing drug entity. Could it be the opiophobic nature of some of our bureaucrats ?

Does is also seem rather strange that Zohydro ER comes in several strengths 10,15,20,30,40,50 and they focus on the 50 mg.. as if it is the only strength available.. Is this like point to the exception to the rule and insist that it is “the rule”.. and apparently Gov Patrick suckered into all of this hyper-reaction.. maybe Gov Patrick is still stinging from the New England Compounding Center fiasco .. and just more of his “duck and cover” tactics.

It seems that lately.. almost yearly we see new studies that questions the safety of Acetaminophen .. here is the most recent

Now we have more bad news about APAP… and seniors are not suppose to NSAID’s because of potential intestinal bleeding and increased cardio vascular risks.  Ice and heat will only go so far. Lidocaine patches – can only use 3 at a time.. and they cover only so much surface area. No everyone can afford or afford to take off work to go to PT.

  1. I have a lot of friends and know a lot of people that take Hydrocodone , I keep telling them to be careful because of the amount of Acetaminophen in the medication they take for their chronic pain. The reason they take hydrocodone is that’s all they can get. I asked one friend to show me the bottle of hydrocodone he takes and to read the bottom line where hydrocodone is written and tell me what is written and he said , hydrocodone 10 / 500 APAP. I then asked him do you know what 500 APAP stands for and he said its the amount of hydrocodone in the pill. So I had to correct him and say that’s the amount of acetaminophen in each pill you take. Each pill you take has 10 mgs of hydrocodone and that’s all the amount of hydrocodone you get in one pill. Then I got a calculator and added up the amount of acetaminophen he takes in a week and it was amazing. Taking 2 hydrocodone pills 3 times a day is 3000 mgs of acetaminophen each day and 21000 mgs of acetaminophen a week and he has been taking this amount for 6 years.
A major cause of acetaminophen overdose is that people often don’t realize a combination product contains the drug. They then take two or more acetaminophen-containing products at the same time, often exceeding the safe dosage. Acetaminophen is an active ingredient in hundreds of over-the-counter (OTC) and prescription medicines. It relieves pain and fever. It is also combined with other active ingredients in medicines that treat allergy, cough, colds, flu, and sleeplessness. Acetaminophen can cause serious liver damage if more than directed is used.

According to the amount of Tylenol (acetaminophen) in a 24 hour period is not to exceed 3000 mgs while symptoms last unless directed by a doctor.
I noticed all these light brown spots on his legs and I would imagine these are liver spots.

Now the U.S. has Zohydro ER a pain medication with Hydrocodone only in a time released pill. How can politicians say they don’t want this medication sold in their state, what gives them the right to make this decision.

Soon it will be the year anniversary of the Boston Marathon bombing.
Is the person that’s blocking sales of Zohydro ER in the state of Massachusetts going to tell these people it was because of him blocking sales in his state the reason these people cant get this particular medication that could of help to them.

  2. Finally! It’s about time the pharmaceutical company defends it’s product.
