Ken seems to get the point across quite well…

“The moral test of a government is how it treats those who are at the dawn of life, the children; those who are in the twilight of life, the aged; and those who are in the shadow of life, the sick and the needy, and the handicapped.” – Hubert Humphrey

In 2008, my son was in a red light runner car accident in which my daughter was a passenger she was 15. She sustained a broken foot. He luckily walked away. But where the break was did not require booting or casting, just a good shoe and crutches til surgery to clip, off the broken bone piece. In the meantime, when we went grocery shopping usually wally world, she used an elecric cart and the greeter was gracious to let us leave the crutches up front. Oh, the nasty commets we got because she was using the cart. Mostly we ignored them. Until one day we were leaving a customer lit into her about it. I guess the customer didn’t know i was with her as i was busy getting the bags while my daughter parked the cart. I let loose, sorry to say, let her know, my daughter had survived a nasty car wreck and was the mend and how dare she judge what she could not see. She saw my daughter collecting her crutches and she did apologize. She explained she’d seen alot of kids use them for fun. I told her I know I’ve seen that to and in that case mgmt should be notified. But in our case I had let the greeter know why we needed the cart upon entry. Not all teens use them for fun, I work in healthcare and I knew of serveral teens in our community with issues( like Ken stated) that would qualify for using an electric cart in the store.
