Align My Refills

Three national pharmacy associations get behind encouraging pts to be compliant with their prescribed medications for chronic conditions.

• American Pharmacists Association (APhA)
• National Alliance of State Pharmacy Associations (NASPA)
• National Community Pharmacists Association (NCPA)

From the article:

Med sync is especially helpful for people who take multiple, monthly medications such as those with chronic illness or the elderly, as well as caregivers or family members responsible for helping them manage their prescription refills.

Medication adherence is a major issue in this country. Med sync programs offer multiple benefits to patients and their loved ones or caregivers that improve their ability to take their medication as directed.

I guess that since all opiates – except Tylenol with Cod – are now C-II’s and you have to get a new Rx each time.. technically they are not refills … So Pharmacist can claim they are following this policy.. while continuing to refuse to fill opiates ? If you notice the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF CHAIN DRUG STORES… is not on board  neither is the NATIONAL ASSOCIATIONS BOARDS OF PHARMACY !

  1. Just because the rx’s are refilled does not mean they are taken. Just because they are taken does not mean they are taken correctly. Adherence to medications is a lot more than just refills, at least the data shows that. But PBM’s and some others would have you belive otherwise!!!! For the sake of $$$$

    • Until ones chronic illness has issues like bipolar and several med changes are needed and add a few more meds for side effects from psych meds and then *POOF* refills dont sync. unless he goes off meds to re sync, I can send him to them to take care of just in case he starts to relapse. As a RPh myself I got complaints on this all the time, but in reality unless your chrinc health issue is absolutely perfect, those groups who want it arent living in reality.IMHO

(Anonymous…he is very compliant became I do a mediset for him every week and go to dr appts with him when im able)
